SIDEBAR 2.1 WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT OTHER RELIGIONS The appendix lists 239 biblical incidents or teachings about what happens or should happen when the people of God (patriarchs, Israelites, New Testament followers of Jesus) come into contact with people of other religious traditions. Based on these 239 examples we have drawn some general conclusions: • Three-fourths of the references are from the Old Testament. • The five most frequently occurring nonbiblical religions are Egyptian religion (5%)
